Mendelssohn: String Octet

Written by a sixteen-year-old Felix Mendelssohn in 1825, the String Octet in E flat major is one of the highlights of all 19th-century music. One of the first of Mendelssohn's pieces to be very well received, it's composition effectively created a new genre of chamber music and it is widely regarded as a masterpiece to this day.
